Custom Shopify Theme Development — Designed Around Your Brand
Bespoke Shopify themes built from Figma to Liquid: fast, Online Store 2.0-ready and fully editable for your marketing team. For brands that have outgrown templates.
Quick answer
Custom Shopify theme development means designing and coding a theme specifically for your brand instead of adapting a ready-made one. Lazapi runs discovery, wireframes and Figma designs, then builds the theme in Liquid with editable sections, targeting good Core Web Vitals and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility.
When a custom theme makes sense
-
01
Templates are holding the brand back
Your brand, photography and story need layouts that no template offers.
-
02
Too many apps and scripts
Years of add-ons have slowed the store. A clean build includes only what you use.
-
03
Marketing waits on developers
Your team needs to launch landing pages and campaigns from the theme editor.
-
04
A complex catalogue
Configurable products, large ranges or B2B needs call for purpose-built templates.

| Upfront cost | Lower | Higher |
| Time to launch | Shorter | Longer: discovery, design and build |
| Performance | Depends on the theme and apps | Built to a performance budget |
| Unused code | Often ships features you don’t use | Only what your store needs |

Questions we hear often
Should I choose a custom theme or a premium theme?
A customised premium theme suits most new and growing stores: it is faster and cheaper to launch. A custom theme makes sense when your brand, catalogue or performance needs go beyond what templates can do. The comparison table on this page sets out the trade-offs.
How long does a custom theme take?
It depends on the number of templates, design rounds and integrations. After discovery we give you a written timeline for each phase, from wireframes through to launch, so you can plan campaigns around it.
Will my team be able to edit the theme?
Yes. Every page is built from sections and blocks with settings in Shopify’s theme editor. We run a training session at handover and document how each section works.
Do you design before you code?
Yes. We agree wireframes first, then full Figma designs for mobile and desktop. Development starts only when you have approved the designs, which avoids expensive changes later.
Can you redesign my store without losing SEO?
Yes. We keep your URLs, page titles, descriptions and structured data, and check rankings and Search Console after launch. If any URLs change, we set up 301 redirects.
